A collapse occurred on the pier of Hara Harbor.

On the morning of August 25, 2024, part of the Hara Harbor pier collapsed, causing the exhibition building to fall into the sea.

On Friday evening, cracks appeared in the exhibition building located on the pier, indicating a potential risk of collapse. The exhibition building was immediately closed to visitors, and the exhibition inside was successfully evacuated. Currently, the Rescue Board has partially closed the pier to visitors. At the beginning of the week, we will involve experts and act according to the results of the expert assessment. We will reopen the Juminda Mine Battle exhibition in new premises at the earliest opportunity.

Visitors are still welcome to explore the harbor area, and our restaurant, pizzeria, and accommodations are operating as usual.

“The exhibition has been connected to many people living around Hara Bay, who have contributed significantly to its creation. Historically, it has always been the case that some part of the coastal people’s life is claimed by the sea,” reflects Tarvi Velström.

Today, you can still visit and see the historical site, but please note that the exhibition is currently closed. Follow our social media to stay updated on when we will reopen the museum.
